Inclán Studio

Inclán Studio is the result of a collaborative project bringing together a unique group of Artists and Artisans, with a shared love for design, heritage and modernity.

Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting the Houston based atelier and meeting the designer Clarence Lee. Effortless, versatile designs and multifunctional clothing define Inclán Studio.

I was fortunate of seeing first glance the Spring 2020 collection, which is already available online and selected boutiques. The inspiration for this new collection goes back to the history and Mexican heritage of the brand’s founder Paola Contreras. It is a tribute to her Mexican roots, carrying on legacy and paying homage to Paola’s grandmother Martha Rocha Inclán, hence where the name comes from. This collection features beautiful vibrant colors in hues of red, yellow and purple.

The Inclán aesthetic is characterized by the play of fabrics and color combinations, simple silhouettes, but still very unique on its details. Comfortable fabrics like silks, cotton and linen make this brand a must have on the wardrobe of the modern busy woman.

Inclán follows style, not trends. They want the clients to have the maximum use of their wardrobe. Utilitarian, comfortable and easy to wear, these garments can be worn year long and styled accordingly the different personalities of the wearer.

In every collection, they reinvent some of the classics of the house, such as the Stevie top, that every season it changes slightly. The goal is “Remaining true to the piece, but still making it feel fresh and new, without always repeating the same” Clarence says.

Sustainability is also a part of Inclán’s brand values and comes from producing everything in house, the Houston atelier. From start to finish, everything is done at this location. The fabrics are outsourced from small independent mills from all corners of the world, with good values and unique, exclusive, good quality.

Inclán will be 6 years old this summer and Clarence Lee is a pioneer of design. Being a graduate from Art Institute of Houston, his grandmother was a seamstress and a big influence for his fashion career. Clarence just won the Designer of the Year Award at Fashion Group International of Houston - “It’s great to be recognized, but it’s more than just me. It’s the people I work with, all the amazing team at Inclán. I am very fortunate!” he says.
